It’s that time of year again, everyone’s New Years Resolutions are in full swing as we try to better ourselves from the mess of 2017. Starting January 1st people everywhere starting hitting the gym, eating better, drinking less, and conducting whatever other challenges they had for themselves in the new year.
If any of you are like me, cutting back on sweets is the hardest challenge I could possibly set for myself. To combat this, I started researching and self-improving “healthy” dessert recipes. My go to recipe for whenever I’m craving something sweet now are these banana cookies. With only five ingredients, this recipe is simple, quick, and healthy. You can also add a little bit of cinnamon and nutmeg to add flavour and give them a slight banana bread taste.
3 bananas (ripe)
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup dates (chopped)
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
⅓ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 350°F
2. Mash all 3 bananas in a large mixing bowl
3. Stir in all other ingredients and mix well, allow the mixture to sit for 15 minutes
4. Drop spoonfuls of batter on an ungreased cookie sheet
5. Bake for 20 minutes, until lightly browned
